Start Here: FoodNerd’s Complete Nutrition System
What is the FoodNerd’s Complete Nutrition System?
FoodNerd's Complete Nutrition System is a complete monthly nutrition system—25 bags delivering 100% daily fruits, vegetables, protein, fiber, and healthy fats to support your toddler during the critical first 1,000 days. Each box contains 25 individually portioned bags across multiple flavors, designed to make complete daily nutrition effortless for busy parents. Your first box includes our variety pack so your child can discover which flavors they love. After your first delivery, subscribers can customize future boxes to include only their favorites.
Is this a snack or a supplement?
Foodnerd is a snack that does more than a synthetic supplement. It’s made from whole fruits, vegetables, and sprouts, not isolated nutrients. Kids eat it as food, so the nutrients come in their natural form, the way their bodies are meant to receive them.
How is this different from traditional toddler snacks/baby puffs?
Traditional baby snacks are often made from refined grains with a few vitamins and minerals added in the mix. FoodNerd starts with whole plants and uses a cold processing method so more of the original nutrition stays intact. It’s closer to feeding your kiddos real produce than a puffed snack.
Why 25 days?
The first 1,000 days require daily consistency, not occasional healthy snacks.
We chose 25 bags (not 30) because:
Toddlers eat at their own pace—some days more, some days less
Weekdays are when you need support most (weekends allow more time for family meals)
Breathing room matters—25 bags ensures consistency without pressure
How much of my child's daily nutrition is in a FoodNerd Megapuff bag?
Each bag is made from 100 percent fruits and vegetables and helps add real produce to your child’s day. It gives them a solid foundation of naturally occurring vitamins and plant nutrients. It’s meant to support meals, not replace them.

Why start with the variety pack?
We want your child to experience maximum flavor variety during the first 1,000 days—when taste preferences are being programmed for life.
Every child's palate is different, but early exposure to diverse whole food flavors is what builds adventurous eaters. By starting with the variety pack, your child gets that crucial exposure while you discover which flavors they love most.
The included calendar and stickers make it fun—your child tracks which flavor they eat each day, and you'll see patterns emerge. After your first delivery, you can customize future boxes to include only their favorites, or keep the variety to continue building their palate.
Either way, those first four weeks of diverse exposure already did important developmental work.
Product & Nutrition Overview
Does FoodNerd provide 100% of my toddler’s daily fruits and vegetables?
Yes. Each bag is made from the equivalent of 4 cups of fruits, vegetables, and sprouts. It’s designed to cover a full so you have one less thing to think about. It’s an easy way to check fruits and veggies off the list, even on busy days.
What nutrients does FoodNerd focus on?
Foodnerd focuses on nutrients that naturally come from fruits, vegetables, and sprouts. That includes omega-3s, fiber, plant protein, plant compounds like sulforaphane, plus vitamins such as A, C, and K and minerals like iron and potassium. Everything comes from real food, not added or synthetic nutrients.
How does FoodNerd support brain, gut, and palate development?
FoodNerd supports brain development with plant-based healthy fats, like omega-3s. The fiber in our fruit, vegetables, and sprouts helps support gut health by feeding the good bacteria shaping your little one’s immune system. And because it’s made from real ingredients with real flavors, it helps kids get used to different tastes early, which can make picky eating less likely over time.
Are FoodNerd products shelf‑stable?
Yes, FoodNerd Puffs are shelf-stable for up to 1 year when stored appropriately in a cool, dark place like the pantry. If your little one doesn't finish a pack, you can prolong its shelf life by placing the puffs in an airtight container or bag and storing them in the pantry.
Is FoodNerd a meal replacement?
FoodNerd is meant to compliment your child's day.
Can I eat FoodNerd alongside fresh fruits and vegetables?
Yes! While some little ones love eating an entire bag alone, some parents choose to split the bag up across the day during meal times and in between meals.
What if my child doesn’t finish a pack?
No worries, every child is different. Your job as a parent is to provide them with options, their job is to eat. Some little ones eat up all the puffs in one go, some like to split it up throughout the day, and for many their appetite changes week to week. Try adding the puffs to a smoothie, or crushing up and adding to other healthy foods like oats!
Ingredients & How FoodNerd Is Made
What is FoodNerd’s sprouted seed blend?
FoodNerd’s sprouted seed blend is the foundation of our food. It’s a carefully chosen mix of seeds that are allowed to sprout to their peak potential and then gently cold-processed. Sprouting “wakes” the seed up, making the nutrients inside easier for little bodies to use. For kids, that means more real nutrition packed into a small serving, without needing additives or fillers.
What are sprouted seeds?
Sprouted seeds are simply seeds that have started to grow. At this early stage, the seed shifts from storing nutrients to releasing them for growth. This makes the nutrients easier to absorb and helps break down things that can make digestion harder. It’s the same natural process that helps a plant grow, and it also makes the food gentler and more nourishing for kids.
Why use seeds instead of grains?
Seeds may be small, but they hold everything a plant needs to grow, including healthy fats, protein, fiber, vitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients. While grains are technically seeds, most grain-based foods on the shelf are heavily refined, which strips away much of their natural nutrition and fiber. That kind of processing can be harder on kiddo’s bodies and doesn’t offer the same benefits as whole plants.
What are phytonutrients?
Phytonutrients are natural compounds found in plants that help support the body in ways vitamins alone can’t. They play a role in things like immune health, gut development, and how the body handles everyday stress. They’re nutrition you can see before you even take a bite. The rich colors of fruits and vegetables and some of their bitter or earthy flavors come from these compounds. You won’t see phytonutrients listed on most nutrition labels, but they’re a big reason fruits and vegetables are so important. FoodNerd tests for them to make sure they’re actually making it into every bag your kiddo eats..
What is sulforaphane?
Sulforaphane is a plant compound found in cruciferous vegetables. Don’t let the word scare you. It simply means vegetables like broccoli, kale, cauliflower, and our favorite, broccoli sprouts. While it’s talked about less than vitamins and minerals, it does important everyday work in the body by supporting your kiddo’s natural defense systems, from their brain to their gut and down to the cellular level. The catch? Sulforaphane is very sensitive to heat so it’s often lost during traditional cooking and processing. This is why it’s missing from so many processed foods that claim a vegetable in their product name. FoodNerd uses a cold approach to help protect sulforaphane, and all those special plant compounds, so it stays in the food and actually reaches your child.
What is Nutrient Lock Cold Processing?
Nutrient Lock Cold Processing is how FoodNerd protects what’s already good in real food. Everything is kept cold from start to finish and never heated above refrigerator temperatures. That matters because heat can destroy delicate vitamins and plant compounds and create unwanted byproducts like A.G.E.s that form when food is cooked too hot. Keeping things cold helps the food hold onto its natural structure and nutrients, so what your child eats is closer to the fruits and vegetables you’d make at home, just in a form that’s easier to use.
Why real fruits and vegetables ?
Real fruits and vegetables work best together because their nutrients are meant to support each other. Vitamins, minerals, fiber, and plant compounds naturally interact in ways that help the body absorb and use them more effectively. FoodNerd focuses on whole plants so kids get nutrition in a form their bodies recognize and know how to use.
Why don’t we fortify or add synthetic nutrients?
FoodNerd doesn’t add nutrients back in because they’re never stripped out to begin with. Fortification is often used to replace what processing removes. By starting with nutrient-dense ingredients and protecting them through gentle processing, FoodNerd delivers real nutrition without shortcuts. That means fewer ingredients, fewer surprises, and more food you can feel good about feeding your kid.
First 1,000 Days, Development & Picky Eating
What are the first 1,000 days of life?
The first 1,000 days are the time from pregnancy through your child’s second birthday. During this period, over 70% of their brain, body, and immune system are taking shape. The food and experiences they’re exposed to during this window can have a lasting impact on their health and wellness for years to come. That is why FoodNerd created products to support your little one’s from the inside out during this time.
Why does nutrition matter so much during this window?
During these early years, nutrition is doing real “construction” work. Nutrients help build the brain, support growth, and train the immune system. Getting good food in early makes it easier for kids’ bodies to grow and adapt later on.
How does FoodNerd support gut development?
FoodNerd supports gut development by feeding the good bacteria that help kids digest food and build a strong foundation for health. The mix of fruits, vegetables, and sprouts provides different types of fiber and plant compounds that help those bacteria grow and thrive. Gentle processing helps keep those nutrients intact, so little bellies can handle them more easily.
How does FoodNerd support brain development?
FoodNerd supports brain development by delivering key nutrients and healthy plant-based fats during a time when the brain is growing fast. In the first 1,000 days, a child’s brain is made up of about 60% fat, so healthy fats and omega-3s really matter. Ingredients also naturally provide iron, zinc, and B vitamins, all from real food.
Why is palate development important?
Kids aren’t born liking or disliking foods. They learn through experience and exposure. When they taste a variety of fruits and vegetables early, those flavors start to feel normal. That familiarity can help reduce picky eating and make healthier foods easier to accept over time.
Can FoodNerd help prevent picky eating?
Yes, it can. FoodNerd introduces kids to a wide range of real flavors early, including vegetables and sprouts they might not otherwise try. That early exposure helps those flavors feel familiar instead of scary. This can help kids be more open to fruits and vegetables as they grow.
Why does plant diversity matter?
Different plants bring different nutrients, and our bodies need a wide mix to work well. Eating a variety of fruits, vegetables, and sprouts helps deliver more micronutrients and plant compounds that support everything from digestion to immune health. That variety also feeds good gut bacteria and helps kids get comfortable with more flavors early, which can make mealtimes easier as they grow.
Safety, Standards & Testing
What is the Clean Label Project?
The Clean Label Project (CLP) is an independent nonprofit that tests for hundreds of hidden contaminants not required to be on food labels, like heavy metals, pesticides, plasticizers (e.g., BPA), and other industrial or environmental toxins. CLP evaluates products against strict purity benchmarks and awards certifications like the Purity Award for foods intended for pregnancy and early childhood. These certifications tell parents that a product has met CLP’s standards for low contaminants and transparency
Does FoodNerd test for heavy metals?
Yes. All FoodNerd products are third-party tested for heavy metals through the Clean Label Project and other laboratory screens. FoodNerd tests for contaminants like arsenic, cadmium, mercury, and lead, along with a broader panel that includes pesticides, plasticizers, and other toxins. These tests help ensure the products meet rigorous purity and safety expectations before they reach your home.
Why does FoodNerd test for how processed food is?
FoodNerd is built around keeping plant nutrition as close to real food as possible. That’s why we don’t just look at vitamins and safety testing, but also how much a food has been processed. High heat can create compounds like A.G.E.s and destroy delicate plant nutrients, so FoodNerd uses cold processing and tests to make sure those nutrients stay intact. Less processing means fewer harmful byproducts and nutrition that looks more like the fruits and vegetables you’d make at home, just in a form that’s easier to use.
